Activity Points and Awards @ Cawthra Park
Attached at the bottom of this webpage is the latest
PDF printout of Activity Points and Awards for Fall 07 and June 08. There are
231 awards to date and that number sets a new record, which indicates widespread
interest and support for the program by both staff and students.
There are still a number of cases where the student's points are close to qualifying
for an award, but have not reached the numbers needed. If your name is not on
the list, it is because you still have some more volunteering to do.
It should be noted that often a given student is the recipient of several awards
arising out of one another. A typical example would be the Arts medallion leading
to the SSD silver Shield, then to the GCD gold shield. The students are urged
to examine the whole attached list for such secondary and tertiary awards.
Also, there are quite a few cases of "GIV = S08" awards, that is,
Arts, Athletics, or Citizenship medallions that have been awarded since the
2007 Activity Banquet, and therefore are designated for the Activity Banquet
in June 2008. Such awards can be provided to the student informally at Commencement
if the student prefers such an arrangement. In that case, Ms. Graham in the
Science Department <sheila.graham@peelsb.com> must be informed. The typical
situation is that the student is off to a university far away and is therefore
not likely to wish to attend the Activity Banquet in June 2008, especially when
his/her classmates have dispersed widely also and are not likely to attend the
Activity Banquet in June 2008.
If a student has serious concerns about the points, he/she should email Ms.
Graham<sheila.graham@peelsb.com> who will forward the concern to Mr. Sparling,
a retired Cawthra teacher who spends hours tracking these points.
When students take a look at the attached list, it would be appreciated if they would let Ms. Graham know that they agree with the activity points total and their eligibility for an award.
A file of Activity Points and Awards is posted on the website, but you need the same username/password to access the list that you need to see photos of students. The list will also be posted on the windows outside the Student Counter.
