A Typical RAP Tour

[Page1] [Page2]

The R.A.P. (Regional Arts Program) tour takes graduating RAP students to various elementary schools to perform before the students there. This tour publicizes the Regional Arts Program to eligible students in the community who might then choose to attend the R.A.P. Open House and to audition as a result of this exposure to the program.

This year the R.A.P. Open House will be held Nov. 23, with one session at 7 p.m. and a second at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.
In addition, teachers of academic subjects will be in the gym prepared to answer questions on the regular academic courses, which are offered in all secondary schools. Counsellors will be available in the library to answer parent questions. R.A.P. audition packages will be available in both locations.

In the auditorium, the RAP students get final instructions before departing to the elementary schools.

But first, they hear from Ms. Ghorayeb, the Artistic Director, who organizes the buses for all teams, each with two staff supervisors.

Mr. Zeagman, Drama teacher, and Ms. Herrmann, R.A.P. secretary are two of the supervisors.

The equipment is loaded on the buses.

The visual artists carry their sketching gear.

All music equipment is stored in the bus holds.

Good luck Adamo!

Bright idea: loading in the props from the back of the bus.

Ready to roll!

On reaching the first elementary school, the set-up is done very quickly.

The musicians take one side of the staging area.

The warm-ups include everyone and are done in the centre stage area.

The dancers cleaned the floor during their warm-up!

Visual Arts students set up their display in the staging area opposite the musicians.

The dancers continue their warm-up!!

The "Godfather" was a big hit with the Grade 8 students. The drama sketches are original,
written by the student actors and, of course, they change from year to year.

And here's the Cinderfella skit!
All skits explain life at Cawthra Park and why students will like going to school there.

The musicians perform!

This live "slide show" gives glimpses into life at Cawthra

The dancers become the edges of the screen.

The best slide was the one that went in upside down!

Here's a view from the stage looking out at the audience, which consists of Grade 8 students.

The artists are quietly sketching audience members.

Answering questions at the end of the performance.
