Sears Festival kicks off with Cawthra's Sears PreFest

March 3rd at 7 p.m.: Port Credit and Lorne Park, Cawthra Park (One Good Marriage)

Adjudicating at the PreFest this year is Stephen Guy-McGrath (pronounced McGraw), an actor and playwright, who was born and raised in St.John's Newfoundland, but moved to Ontario in his late teens where he finished high school at Cawthra Park. Stephen was enrolled in both the drama and dance departments. After leaving Cawthra, he attended the National Theatre School in Montreal, The School of The Toronto Dance Theatre and The Limon Institute in New York.

Stephen has written two plays: Spinning Yarns, a collection of stories and songs from and inspired by his childhood in Newfoundland, which has toured all over southern Ontario having logged over 200 performances including an appearance on CBC radio's Madly Off In All Directions. Stephen's second play BULLY, a study of schoolyard bullying, has had four productions and received resounding critical and popular acclaim.

Stephen has won awards from the Toronto Arts Council, The Ontario Arts Council and The Canada Council. He is currently Playwright in Residence at Theatre Orangeville and can be seen in the upcoming production of Dual At Dawn at the Lorrain Kinsma Theatre For Young People.
