War Canoe Challenge
On Saturday, June 3rd, the Cawthra Park War Canoe crew braved the rain and took
on the High School War Canoe Challenge hosted by Mississauga Canoe Club. The
wet weather certainly did not dampen the spirits of this dedicated group of
athletes. After a month of early morning practices, Cawthra showed area schools
what team work is all about. Our crew brought home the gold medal for the boys
championship—a first for Cawthra (and not the last!) Our junior varsity
girls, many new to the sport, paddled their way to a silver medal finish and
our senior girls are sporting bronze medals. It was a stellar day for Cawthra
Park on the Credit River!
