Monday: Stephen Guy-McGrath visited the school to talk to Grade
9 students about writing plays.
Alex and Enzo got to read a scene from Bully.
Stephen brought his daughter - a loyal fan!
Tuesday: Ting-Xing Ye talked to Grade 12 students about her
biography Leaf in a Bitter Wind and about her first novel Throwaway
Daughter. Ms. Bourdon introduced the author.
Her stories were fascinating.
Wednesday: Mr. Greg Bowering greeted our next author Nadja
Halilbegovich....
... and introduced her to Cawthra Grade 10 students.
Nadja spoke about her teen years growing up in war-torn Sarajevo.
She read from her account of those years in My Childhood Under Fire.
Nadja sang some ballads from her country.
Her music and the experiences it led to helped her escape Bosnia.
After the presentation, Nadja talked to the students.
She patiently talked to everyone.
Thursday:
Mr. Don Ball introduced Jennica Harper, who was once a student of his.
Jennica read from her book of poems titled Octopus.
After the reading and a Q and A session, Jennica talked to the students.
Four great days with four wonderful authors.
