Peer-editing of the Hobbit essay today - remaining time was given to reading docu-drama novels.
Homework: Docu-drama novels must be finished by tomorrow's class so that we
can begin the Inquiry Process.

we worked on the Hobbit essay.
Homework: Keep working on your pictograph assignment. Please hand in
the good copy some time before Friday.

Today was a repeat of yesterday. We spent a bit of time reading Docu-drama novels and then
we worked on the Hobbit essay. I shared an example essay (a copy is available for review on
the handouts page) and then everyone spent the final 20min. of class finishing the first
draft of the connection paragraph.
Homework: Keep working on your pictograph assignment. Please hand in
the good copy some time before Friday.

essay finished for tomorrow's class.

Today we spent a bit of time reading Docu-drama novels. We also worked on the Hobbit essay. If
you were away be sure to watch the PowerPoint presentation about integrating evidence and
using transition cues correctly in an essay.

Docu-drama novels were assigned today - you will receive your copy on Monday.
Homework: Three things for the weekend: 1. Finish the the good
copy of your 2nd Reading Program assignment - My Growth as a Reader.
2. You should also finish the first draft of the second paragraph of your Hobbit
essay (the Triumph paragraph).
3. Keep working on your pictograph assignment.

Everyone wrote the Hobbit test today.
Homework: Finish the rough draft of your
pictograph assignment. You should also be finishing your 2nd Reading Program
writing assignment - 1 paragraph - outlining/explaining your growth as a reader (there is
now a PowerPoint presentation posted under Unit 4 that reviews the prewriting aspects of this
assignment that we went over in class).

We finished taking up the Hobbit study sheets today in preparation for tomorrow's test. We
also continued to work on the pictograph assignment.
Homework: Finish preparing for tomorrow's test. Continue to work on your
pictograph assignment. First drafts of the pictograph assignment
should be finished for Wednesday. You should also be thinking about your 2nd Reading Program
writing assignment - 1 paragraph - outlining/explaining your growth as a reader (W.o.O.
closes THIS Friday).

Today we worked on building ideas for the next two writing assignments. The first
task was to create a chart that marks and measures how you are growing as a reader. The
second task was to begin to list the various difficulties and triumphs that characters in
The Hobbit experience. We'll continue with this tomorrow.
